FRIEZE
Frieze is a construction type that products an extremely durable and long-wearing textured surface. This type contains highly twisted tufts that curl at the pile surface creating a “knobby” feel. Frieze is perfect for active rooms and active lifestyles.
CUT AND LOOP
For a distinctive, carved appearance, “cut and loop” is just right for a variety of room settings. Here’s a type of carpet that can really spice up a room. Cut and loop gives you a variety of surface levels. The available multi-colors help hide stains, and traffic. Very kid and pet friendly!
MULTI-LEVEL LOOP
The construction type called “multi-level loop” is available with several different levels of loops. Multi-level loop creates a unique looking pattern effect for a casual appearance. This type is super durable and hides traffic well.
LEVEL LOOP
Usually made with Olefin fiber, Level Loop features even, attractive loops that are all the same height. This type produces a fabulous and casual appearance and is extremely durable. Great for active family rooms, or basements
(Special Note About Berbers: Berbers are big, bulky yarns that are either produced in a level loop or multi-level loop carpet construction. Although many Berbers are made out of olefin fiber, some are made with nylon, or a blend of various carpet fibers.)
In addition to Construction Types, carpets are also distinguished by their FIBER types. Some basic types of Carpet Fiber are:
NYLON – This is the most popular synthetic carpet fiber used today. It offers tremendous value, performance, and ease of maintenance. Nylon lends itself to an unlimited assortment of styles and colors at reasonable prices. It provides brilliant colors and hides oil and traffic well.
OLEFIN – This fiber is also called polypropylene and is extremely popular in Berbers and level loops. Olefin carpets are highly resistant to stain, static, mold and mildew. They can be used for indoor or outdoor carpets, including outdoor turf. Its resistance to matting and crushing are not as good as a nylon fiber. Olefin carpets are mainly for areas of low traffic.
POLYESTER – Gives excellent color clarity with a soft feel to the carpet. Lacks the durability of a nylon carpet, but possesses excellent stain resistance.
ACRYLIC – Has a real wool look and appearance. Acrylic is used mainly in level loop, bath mats, and some velvet carpet styles. It offers good mold and mildew resistance with low static levels.
WOOL – Although somewhat expensive, wool still offers great bulk, performance, and an elegant look.
